I’m a graduate of the College of Charleston and the Eastern Chapter chair for the Society of American Travel Writers. My first book, This Is My South: The Essential Travel Guide to the Southern States, was published by Globe Pequot Press in 2018.
My career started in college when I interned for the alt-weekly Charleston City Paper. Between that job and communications classes, I decided to change direction. I started a travel blog that I later leveraged into a portfolio for future writing jobs.

My story for BBC Travel, “A Beer with Healing Powers,” was included in the SATW Lowell Thomas award-winning National Parks anniversary section. My story for Roads and Kingdoms, “A Political Truce Over Fried Chicken Biscuits,” was listed as one of “Our Favorite Roads & Kingdoms Food Stories.” My book also won an SATW Foundation Lowell Thomas award in 2019 for best guidebook, as did my website. I’m also a fellow at the Hambidge Center and Eastern Chapter Chair of the Society of American Travel Writers.
I started as a blogger with Caroline in the City which documents personal travels with millennial-focused topics, before launching my writing career. My travel website, This Is My South, is devoted entirely to traveling in the southern USA, including attractions, accommodations, and restaurants.

My travels have brought me to all seven continents, interviewing Elvis tribute artists in Mississippi and psychics in Florida, ice fishing in Canada, and penguin spotting in Antarctica, to sailboats in the British Virgin Islands and a cave hotel in Turkey.
The stories I love writing are the ones that change perceptions about a person, place, or thing that you think you already know. In addition to my work, I love making cocktails in my backyard tiki bar, trolling antique malls and estate sales for treasures to add to my (already filled) home, and playing auntie with my friends and their kids.
